Reversi

Preparing the board

How to play Reversi

  1. Place a disc on one of the marked legal squares.
  2. Bracket one or more opposing discs in a straight line to flip them.
  3. Finish with more discs than your opponent when neither color can move.

Rules

  • Black always moves first on the standard 8×8 board.
  • A move must flip at least one opposing disc in any of eight directions.
  • If one color has no legal move, its turn passes automatically.
  • The game ends when both colors cannot move; the color with more discs wins.

Strategy tips

  • Corners can never be flipped, so prioritize them.
  • Avoid squares beside an empty corner unless the move is necessary.
  • Mobility often matters more than an early lead in disc count.

Yes. Choose Local two-player mode and take turns on the same board.
